Hi there! My name is Diego.

I was born in the 8-bit era and grew up with a 128KB Spectrum and then an AMIGA 500. I learned to program BASIC at the age of 12 and then spent my time playing arcade games, SNES and Megadrive until I went to college to study Computer Science in the 90s: Assembler, C, C++, Java, SQL and the then-unknown Linux. The first distro I installed was Slackware.

I have worked in companies such as Sun Microsystems, Informix Software and Ascential until I moved to the public sector in 2002 to work for CESGA (Galicia Supercomputing Center), where I spent more than 15 years learning about infrastructure, databases and project management. Since 2021 I am back in the private sector working as a contractor, currently at Altinity, a data startup specialized in ClickHouse OLAP databases and real-time analytics.

I like to read (SciFi), walk and enjoy a good day with my wife and kids. Continuous learning is in my DNA and I value technology as a tool to improve our lives and change the world.

During my long experience I have touched a lot of technologies, languages and paradigms, but my main interests and skills are focused on: Databases, SQL, Python and sysadmin.
